Bag Detect System

Bag Detect System

the bag detect system is in place to sense when a bag has been missed during operation. When bag is missed, This stops the patch from winding up and causing problems in the machine.

The Eyes

Photo Eye #4 "watches" for a bag to be present each time photo eye #5 senses the flag while the machine is running

Photo Eye $5 is located under the machine handwheel. This photo eye "watches" for flag on handwheel to indicate that the machine is running.

Photo Eye #6 "watches" for the previous bag to be through before allowing the deflector plate to move downward.

Here's what happens...

If phot eye #5 senses the flag on the handwheel and phot eye #4 senses a bag, all is well. This means that the machine is cycling and a bag is in place. The machine processes continue as normal.

If phot eye #5  senses a flag, but photo eye # 4 does not sense a bag this indicates that the machine is cycling but it has missed a bag.  If this happens:

Combining roll assembly retracts up to stop the patch from winding around the combining roll, as there is no bag to attach to after the previous bag has cleared phot eye #6 , indicating that it has passed the deflector plate, the plate moves downward to send the scrap patch out of the machine.

Set-Up

The bag detect system was set before your machine was shipped and will not require adjustment under normal circumstances, even when bag parameters change. If setup becomes necessary:

  1. Jog the machine until a bag has just cleared the combining roll assembly and stop.
  2. Loosen the clamp hub on the handwheel flag and rotate the flag until it is sensed by photo eye #5
  3. Ensure that photo eye # 5 is clearly illuminated (not flickering) and tighten the clamp hub.
  4. Check photo eye #4 to ensure that there is 7" between the photo eye and the trailing edge od the bag.
  5. check photo eye #6 to ensure that it senses that bag after the trailing edge has cleared the deflector/diverter plate.
